To appear offline on Facebook, you can follow these steps:
Open Facebook on your computer or mobile device and log in to your account.
Click on the chat button located at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Click on the gear icon located at the top-right corner of the chat window.
Select "Turn Off Active Status" from the drop-down menu.
In the "Turn off active status for" section, select "All Contacts" to appear offline to everyone or choose specific contacts to hide your status from.

After following these steps, your friends won't be able to see you as active or available to chat. However, keep in mind that you can still receive messages while appearing offline, and you will also be able to see other people's online statuses.
